{ Hey guys, I’m Phoebe, your resident Grey’s Anatomy fanatic and soon-to-be favorite Software Engineer }

How did I get started in tech?

I was introduced to tech way back in the MySpace days, long before I knew that the HOURS I was spending importing themes, updating HTML/CSS on my profile page, and embedding playlists to match my teenage feelings were actually preparing me for a possibly lucrative career. I didn’t even know what computer science was until it was suggested by a family member that I major in it in college. Torn between majoring in Criminal Justice(what I originally planned on majoring in) and Computer Science, I decided to take a computer course my first semester to see how I liked it – Fundamentals of Computer Programming. The moment I ran my first piece of code and it actually worked??! I was hooked. That was it. The decision was made and I was officially a Computer Science major by the time the Spring Semester of my freshman year rolled in.

Many years and many obstacles(mainly myself) later, I pushed through and got my degree. I officially graduated in 2017 with my Bachelor’s in Computer Science and minor in International Business & Trade. Listen! As long as it took me to get to that point, feeling excited and accomplished was an understatement!

How did I land a job in Tech?

So while I was in college, I started working at T-Mobile, where I was a Retail Sales Associate for 7 years. After getting my Computer Science degree, I applied for a Technology Professional position in their corporate department and got it. By 2019, I was promoted to an Associate Software Engineer, and the rest is history.

Why did I start this blog?

Learning for me has been hard sometimes and overwhelming, so you can imagine how much of a gem it is when certain concepts click for me. So why not document what I’m learning in the hopes of having certain topics click for others too? I still have so much to learn, but my goal is to continue to learn and grow in tech, and pass my knowledge down along the way. We got this y’all! Follow my journey 🙂
